Australia Captain Marsh Ruled Out of Pakistan ODIs With an Ankle Injury
Australia captain Mitchell Marsh will not lead the side in the upcoming three-game ODI series against Pakistan, starting May 30. Marsh, who picked up an ankle injury during the Indian Premier League, will stay in Perth, where he will be further assessed and treated.
Marsh also missed his final game of the IPL, where he was representing Lucknow Super Giants, due to the same reason.
Inglis to lead the side
In his absence, wicketkeeper batter Josh Inglis will lead the side in the ODI series. Inglis has previously captained the side on four occasions, all of which came against Pakistan.
His debut as ODI captain came during Australia's tour of Pakistan in November 2024. Following that, Inglis also led Australia in three T20Is during the same tour.
Marsh's injury also puts his availability for the Bangladesh tour in doubt, though Cricket Australia said a decision about that would be made in due course.
