Amir, Faheem penalized for PSL Code of Conduct violation after verbal spat

Amir, Faheem penalized for PSL Code of Conduct violation after verbal spatRawalpindiz bowler Mohammad Amir and Islamabad United player Faheem Ashraf have been charged with violating the PSL Code of Conduct after a verbal spat.

Verbal argument

The incident occurred during the 17th over of Islamabad’s innings when Amir’s bouncer dismissed Faheem. Amir then produced a fiery send-off, staring at Faheem while pointing towards the pavilion.

The move instigated Faheem to walk towards the bowler with his bat raised. However, with intervention from fellow players, the argument remained verbal. Both players have been fined 10 per cent of their match fees.

Amir was found guilty of violating Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which forbids the use of language, actions, or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal.

Faheem, meanwhile, was fined for violating Article 2.21, which relates to bringing the game into disrepute.

Islamabad’s path to playoffs

Rawalpindiz restricted Islamabad to 137, after which Mohammad Rizwan, Kamran Ghulam, and Daryl Mitchell guided the side to their first win of the season. Islamabad, who are currently in third place on the points table, will play Hyderabad Kingsmen on Friday in what will be their second-last fixture of the group stages.

One win in their remaining two matches could see Islamabad progress to the playoffs.
