Jason Gillespie No Longer Selector for Pakistan Cricket Team
In a recent press conference, Jason Gillespie, the head coach of the Pakistan cricket team, announced that he is no longer part of the selection process. This change comes after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed a new selection committee during the ongoing series against England.
Gillespie clarified that his responsibilities have shifted solely to match-day strategy, stating, “I keep out of things now and focus on getting the players ready for cricket.” He, along with captain Shan Masood, has been excluded from selection discussions.
The PCB's new committee, which includes former umpire Aleem Dar and Aaqib Javed, retained the same playing XI for the third Test following their victory in Multan. Gillespie commented on the changes, noting, “The PCB decided to implement a new selection panel after the first Test.”
When pressed about the shift in his role, Gillespie humorously remarked, “I’m getting splinters in my arse for sitting on the fence,” indicating his newfound detachment from selection matters.
As the team prepares for the next challenge, Gillespie's focus remains firmly on coaching and match-day strategies, steering clear of the selection process.
