Karachi Kings rope in Moeen Ali as their direct signing ahead of the auction
Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Karachi Kings have directly signed Moeen Ali ahead of the player auction on February 11. Moeen, who played nine games for Multan Sultans in PSL 5, has been roped in for PKR 64.4 million. This makes him Karachi's most expensive player so far, crossing their Platinum pick, Hasan Ali.
Moeen Ali signed for PKR 64.4 million
Earlier, the PCB allowed each team to directly sign one foreign player not part of PSL X. For this purpose, the PKR 450 million purse can also be stretched up to PKR 505 million. Moeen Ali’s induction was announced by the franchise via their social media channel.
"We're excited to announce England's explosive force, Moeen Ali, joining the Kings squad for PKR 6.44 crore in the HBL PSL 11. Let's create magic together," the post read.
His inclusion means Karachi have now spent PKR 182.4 million of their purse ahead of the auction. This includes their spending on retentions, with Hasan Ali retained in Platinum, Abbas Afridi in Diamond, Khushdil Shah in Gold, and Saad Baig in the Emerging category.
Confirmed his availability last year
Moeen had confirmed last year that he would be a part of the league in an Instagram post.
“I’m really excited to be joining HBL PSL in its New Era. The league has earned a reputation for top-level T20 cricket, with high-quality competition and world-class talent across every team,” the post read.
“Playing in Pakistan is always incredible; the quality of cricket is outstanding and the passion and intensity from the crowd push you to bring your best. I’m looking forward to being part of it all and creating some great memories along the way.”
