Who Is Aryaveer Kohli, Virat Kohli’s Nephew Playing in Delhi Premier League 2025?

Aryaveer Kohli, just 15 years old, hasn’t played age-group cricket yet, but he’s already caught the attention of some well-known names in Delhi’s cricket circles. A talented leg-spinner, Aryaveer is the son of Vikas Kohli, who is Virat Kohli’s elder brother. He will be turning out for the South Delhi Superstarz (SDS) in the upcoming 2025 Delhi Premier League (DPL) season, after being picked up in the auction for ₹1 lakh.
The second season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) kicks off on Saturday evening, as defending champions East Delhi Riders take on last year’s runners-up, South Delhi Superstarz. On paper, it may seem like just another T20 match but for those in the know, it’s more than that. All eyes are on the possible debut of Virat Kohli’s nephew, adding extra buzz to the opening game.
Aryaveer Kohli is a teenage legspinner who idolises Shane Warne among bowlers and is (obviously) a fan of his chachu’s batting.
Aryaveer trains at the West Delhi Cricket Academy with coach Rajkumar Sharma, just like his well-known uncle. Even though he hasn’t yet represented Delhi in the Under-16 or Under-19 teams, his dedication and hard work caught the attention of the DPL team, who selected him for their squad in the second season of the T20 tournament.
Aryaveer Kohli Enjoying Team Atmosphere, Staying Focused on Game
Before joining the senior team, Aryaveer had a chat with CNN-News18 Cricketnext in an exclusive interview.
“The atmosphere in the dressing room is very chill. The preparations are going well. Sarandeep sir has been helping me a lot from the first day itself to improve my bowling," Aryaveer said.
But the young lad is unfazed by the outer noise, with the focus squarely on his game.
“I don’t think much about it. I mean, I have come to play, and that is what I think about. There is a lot of excitement. It is a big platform. It will be fun," he added.
Coach Sarandeep Says Aryaveer Kohli is Hardworking and Focused
South Delhi’s head coach, Sarandeep, has been getting a lot of questions about Aryaveer Kohli. Reporters are curious about the young player, and Sarandeep shared that Aryaveer is a hardworking kid and will surely give it his all when he gets his chance.
“I’m working with Aryaveer, but I don’t think about his surname. He’s a nice boy, training really hard in the nets and trying to give his best all the time. In fact, he comes to training before time. So, I think that gene has been inherited. But as of now, he is very young but focused on his game. Whenever his time comes, he will definitely perform well and do his best," Sarandeep Singh told CNN-News18.
Aryaveer may be new to dealing with the media, and he doesn't say much, but one thing is clear, he’s all about the team. “I will definitely try to give my best," he concluded.
