Sydney Sixers Break Records with Vince's Classy Century
James Vince did an excellent job with a wonderful 101 from 58 balls, leading the Sydney Sixers to beat the Melbourne Stars on Boxing Day at the SCG. They needed 195 runs but Vince's amazing century made sure they got there with 11 balls left making it a really great win. This chase is now remembered as one of the most important in BBL history.
Vince did great with his amazing batting, making everyone forget about Ben Duckett's earlier performance even though Duckett was extremely aggressive for the Stars swinging and striking the ball many times. Duckett scored 68 from just 29 balls, which was impressive with his nailing six fours in a single over and throwing in some excellent reverse sweeps and pull shots off Akeal Hosein.
However, Vince's performance was even more amazing, helping his team secure the win and making it the largest chase ever at the SCG and the eighth largest in the entire BBL history.
Some of the best hitting of the summer!

The stars were doing pretty proficient at one point with a score of 126/3 after 10.2 overs. Duckett was making important moves and Glenn Maxwell added a swift 32 runs but finding teammates to remain connected with them was tough. Then, Murphy and Ben Dwarshuis from the sixers started bowling very close, which messed up the stars' flow.
This trouble in scoring dragged on and near the end of their time at bat, the stars couldn't work well as a team. They ended up only making 194/9 because they loose wickets.
The Sixers came back strong and efficiently. Vince and Josh Philippe teamed up to obtain 83 runs for the first wicket in less than eight overs. Vince really demonstrated when the strong burst of energy came, especially when attacking the bowlers. He hit a total of four sixes he got two from Maxwell, one from Tom Curran, and another incredible one over cover from Doug Warren.
Vince scored a century off just 57 balls, becoming only the second person in the Sixers' team history to hit a BBL century after he almost achieved it in the 2021 final; this major play made sure the Sixers stayed on their winning streak with their third win in a row. But the Stars haven't won a match after playing four times and now it looks very bad for them making it to the Finals.
