Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings Swap Deal Delayed Over Overseas Player Slot

Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings Swap Deal Delayed Over Overseas Player SlotRajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings have paused their swap deal between Samson and Jadeja because it involves the overseas player Sam Curran. The two teams had planned the trade to strengthen their squads: Chennai wanted a strong Indian wicket-keeper batsman, while Rajasthan struggled to finish matches in the final overs.

The Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings swap deal involving Sanju Samson and Ravindra Jadeja has not gone through yet, even after 48 hours since it was proposed. The delay is due to a procedural issue with including an overseas player, Sam Curran as the Royals’ overseas slots are already full. They cannot add Curran without releasing someone first. Because of this, the Samson-Jadeja trade is on hold and the Royals have set November 15 as the earliest date they can free up a spot for the deal.

Releasing Sri Lankan Duo Could Add INR 9.65 Crores to Royals Purse

The Royals have a large overseas squad that includes Jofra Archer, Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Kwena Maphaka, Nandre Burger and Lhuandre Pretorius along with 14 Indian players.

Sam Curran is priced at INR 2.4 crores, but the Royals currently have only INR 30 lakhs left, which is not enough to sign the English all-rounder.

The Royals have 22 players in their squad and can add up to three more, as the maximum squad size is 25. Releasing Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga could create space for Sanju Samson both in the team and in the budget. If the Sri Lankan duo is released before the mini-auction, they could bring in INR 9.65 crores to the Royals’ purse.
