Mumbai Indians Appoint Lisa Keightley as New Head Coach for WPL 2025

Lisa KeightleyMumbai Indians have named former Australian cricketer Lisa Keightley as their new head coach for the coming Women’s Premier League (WPL) season. Keightley, a two-time World Cup winner, has plenty of coaching experience. She was the assistant coach of Delhi Capitals Women for the last three seasons and also guided Northern Superchargers to the Women’s Hundred title recently. In the past, she has coached both the Australian and England women’s teams and has also been part of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

"We are thrilled to welcome Lisa Keightley to the Mumbai Indians family. A trailblazer in women's cricket, Lisa has inspired generations with her passion, expertise and pioneering spirit. Her arrival marks an exciting new chapter for Mumbai Indians as we look to scale even greater heights and build on our legacy of excellence." Mrs. Nita M. Ambani said.

“It’s an honour to join the Mumbai Indians, a team that has set the benchmark in the WPL. The culture of excellence and care is something I deeply admire. I look forward to working with this talented group to build on our success and continue inspiring on and off the field.” Ms. Lisa Keightley said.

Aiming for Continued Success in WPL

A stylish opening batter in her playing days, Keightley represented Australia in 9 Tests, 82 ODIs, and 1 T20I, scoring more than 3,000 runs across formats. She has also worked in the WPL with Delhi Capitals, helping the team reach three finals in a row. At 54, she knows how to get the best out of her players and is excited to carry forward the legacy of the two-time champions, Mumbai Indians.

Charlotte Edwards, meanwhile, left her roles in the WBBL, WPL, and The Hundred to take up the England coaching job after the team’s poor Ashes run. Having won the Women’s World Cup in 1997 and 2005, Keightley brings a winning mindset and will aim to continue the success with Mumbai Indians, who have already claimed two WPL titles in three seasons.
