Kapp sidelined from Pakistan ODIs with shoulder discomfort
South Africa all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan, which will be played as part of the ICC Women’s Championship. Kapp felt slight pain in her shoulder after completing her four-over quota during the third T20I versus Pakistan.
Rested not injured
While the scans did not reveal anything too concerning, South Africa will bench Kapp as a precaution.
"Proteas Women all-rounder Marizanne Kapp has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Women’s Championship One-Day International series against Pakistan, scheduled from 22 February to 1 March, due to illness," CSA said in a statement.
"Kapp experienced discomfort shortly after completing her spell during the first innings of the third T20 International in Benoni on Monday. Following further medical assessments, the Proteas Women medical team has opted to rest her as a precaution," it added.
Cowling gets maiden call-up
As her replacement, South Africa have called up uncapped bowling all-rounder Fay Cowling, who played for SA Women Emerging in a tour match against Pakistan on Thursday.
"[…] Bowling all-rounder and former SA U19 Women standout Fay Cowling has received her maiden national call-up after impressing at last month's national training camp in Tshwane."
South Africa won the three-match T20I series 2-1, with Pakistan getting a consolation win in the last T20I.
