India vs Australia: Rain Forces Brisbane No-Result as India Win T20I Series 2–1

Rain had the final say in Brisbane, and the match was called off because of nonstop rain and lightning. India win the 5-match series 2-1. The series began with a washed-out game in Canberra and ended with another rain-hit match. Australia outplayed India in Melbourne, but the Men in Blue bounced back with two comprehensive victories in Hobart and Gold Coast to take an unbeatable lead, before the series decider at The Gabba ended in heartbreak for both teams and fans.
Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first yet again. Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma set the stage on fire, scoring 52 in just 4.5 overs. Gill smashed 29 off 16 balls, while Abhishek struck 23 off 13 balls. The right-hander even took a particular liking to Ben Dwarhuis as the former hammered 4 boundaries in his second over.
Brisbane Washout Ends Thriller Series as India Clinch the Trophy
Abhishek was dropped twice, with Glenn Maxwell spilling a sitter at mid off when the southpaw was on 5 and Dwarshuis putting down the left-hander's catch on 11 at square leg. In the process, he became the second fastest to 1000 T20I runs for India in terms of innings taken, being only behind the great Virat Kohli. He was also the fastest to the landmark in terms of balls faced as he scored those runs in just 528 balls.
Rinku Singh was finally given a chance in the playing XI, but his fate had other ideas. It was harsh to drop Tilak Varma on his birthday, too. All in all, Suryakumar Yadav will take the result of the series. India will travel back home to host South Africa in an all-format series, while Australia prepare for the marquee Ashes later this month.
