India Beat England by 7 Runs to Reach 2026 T20 World Cup Final

[ Poll: 1wVMkOZl ]

India beat England by seven runs in the 2026 T20 World Cup semi-final at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The match was led by a brilliant 89-run innings from Sanju Samson. He got good support from Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, and Tilak Varma, who all played quick cameos.

With these contributions, India scored 253 runs in the first innings, which is their second-highest total in T20 World Cup history. Things were expected to go in India’s favour in the second innings, but England had a different mindset. They didn’t succumb to the scoreboard pressure, despite losing some early wickets. Notably, the Harry Brook-led side lost three wickets in the powerplay and the game was heavily in favour of India.

India beat England by 7 runs to reach the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 final

However, what followed was some brilliant batting, but it was not enough in the end. Batting at number four, Jacob Bethell stole the show with a quick 105 runs off 48 balls. Will Jacks supported him with a fast 35 runs. Bethell kept the runs coming till the end, but India’s bowlers pulled things back well and secured the win.

Meanwhile, although Axar Patel gave away 35 runs in his three overs, his fielding was excellent. His effort to run out Will Jacks was one of the biggest turning points of the match. The all-rounder dived to his left to catch a spectacular but upon realising that he would cross the boundary, threw it to Dube, who ultimately caught a simple one.

On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah once again bowled brilliantly in the death overs and helped India win the match. Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh also bowled very well at the end and made sure India secured the victory. With 30 runs required in the final over, England were clearly under pressure and on top of that, Bethell was run out in the first delivery itself. Jofra Archer smacked a couple of sixes in the remaining deliveries but it wasn’t enough.
