ICC T20 Rankings Update: Sanju Samson Climbs Big, Abhishek Sharma Remains No.1

The T20 World Cup 2026 has now reached the final stage, and the semi-finals start on Wednesday. First, New Zealand will play against South Africa in Kolkata. Then on March 5, India will face England in Mumbai. This tournament has also seen some great individual performances, which have helped players improve their ICC T20 rankings. Sanju Samson, who scored a brilliant 97 not out vs West Indies a couple of days back, has been the highest gainer in the latest rankings.
Sanju Samson rises in ICC rankings as T20 World Cup 2026 reaches semi-finals
The 31-year-old has jumped a massive 25 spots to be world no. 40 now, and could only improve further if he delivers against ENG. What comes as a real surprise is, IND opener Abhishek Sharma stays the best batter with 874 points, despite a string of low scores. Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan seems to be closing in the gap with him, and has jumped up a spot to no. 2.
As far as the other Indian batters are concerned, Ishan Kishan too rose a spot, at no. 4. Tilak Varma moved up to no. 6, while Suryakumar Yadav slipped a rung to no.7. In the bowling rankings, Varun Chakravarthy continues to hold the top spot with 771 points, while Rashid Khan of Afghanistan is in second place.
Jasprit Bumrah, after his stellar show vs the WI, has gained a spot, to be no. 7 in the world. Lastly, Arshdeep Singh too gained six spots, to be at the 13th place for now. That’s not it. Hardik Pandya is within touching distance of becoming the world no. 1 all-rounder. For now, he is at the second spot, behind Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza. The point difference between the two is 44, which can be bridged in the T20 World Cup itself.
