Ayub has been dropped from the Newlands Test because of an ankle injury

Saim Ayub, the Pakistan opener, hurt his ankle badly during the first day of the match while he was on the field. Because of his ankle injury, he won't be able to play in the ongoing second Test against South Africa at Newlands. Ayub, 22, twisted his right ankle, and No one knows how serious the injury is or how long it will take for him to recover.

The PCB said Saim Ayub will not play any longer in the second test match against South Africa because he hurt his right ankle while he was fielding. They also said that he already obtained X-rays and MRI tests done. These test results are now with doctors in London who will carefully decide how to help him and how long it will take for him to feel well again.

During the seventh over, Ryan Rickelton hit a shot that went between gully and backward point. Saim Ayub and Aamer Jamal both ran to get the ball. Jamal was able to slide and hit the ball back into play but Ayub wasn't so lucky and ended up slipping and hurting his ankle. Ayub knew right away he was hurt badly, so he signaled for the trainer to come over and needed help to get off the field and Abdullah Shafique took his spot in the game.

Ayub's injury added to Pakistan's struggles on the day, as they found themselves on the back foot after twin centuries from Rickelton (176*) and Temba Bavuma (106).
