Rishabh Pant on Anderson and Broad's Absence: 'It Feels Good, But England Still Has Firepower'
India's vice-captain Rishabh Pant has expressed his relief at the absence of James Anderson and Stuart Broad from the England team, but he also warned against underestimating their bowling attack. This will be England's first home summer without the two veteran fast bowlers. Broad retired during the2 023 Ashes series, while Anderson bid farewell to international cricket after the first Test against West Indies last year.
When asked about the absence of Anderson and Broad, Pant said, "It feels good that Anderson and Broad are not there. They have been there for their team for a long time, and I have come to England for two tours. But they have enough ammunition in their bowling unit. We can't take them lightly because our team is young. We have to play our brand of cricket and respect the bowlers and rivals whenever the situation demands."
In 39 Test matches against India, Anderson took 149 wickets at an average of 25.47. Pant also confirmed the batting order for the series, stating that Shubman Gill will bat at No. 4, while he himself will come in at No. 5. "The discussion is taking place about who will bat at No. 3. The 4 and 5 are confirmed. Shubman Gill will bat at No. 4, and I will come at No. 5," he said.
