Virat Kohli Engages in Batting Practice Post Day 1 of Pune Test
On October 24, during the first day of the Test match against New Zealand in Pune, senior Indian batsman Virat Kohli was spotted working on his batting skills after play concluded. Kohli, who has yet to take to the crease in this Test, opted for some practice to fine-tune his rhythm. Following the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, he was geared up to bat but ultimately did not get the chance, as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill saw off the remaining overs without his involvement.
Kohli's previous outing in the Bengaluru Test was a mixed one; after a disappointing first innings where he was dismissed for a duck, he redeemed himself in the second with a solid 70 runs. His efforts, however, weren't enough to secure a win for India, as they fell short against a resilient New Zealand side, who took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
In stark contrast, India's bowlers showcased their prowess during the first innings of the second Test, dismissing New Zealand for a mere 259 runs. The spinners were particularly effective, claiming all ten wickets on Day 1. Ravichandran Ashwin led the charge with three wickets, despite New Zealand's batters initially appearing patient and composed in their approach.
As the series continues, all eyes will be on Kohli to see if he can capitalize on his practice sessions and contribute significantly to India's batting lineup in the upcoming days.
