Shreyas Iyer Addresses Fake News About His Injury

Shreyas Iyer recently took to social media to call out misinformation regarding his shoulder injury. Reports from Cricbuzz suggested he would miss Mumbai's upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Tripura due to this injury. In response, Iyer urged journalists to verify their information before publishing, tweeting, “Guys, seriously, let’s do some homework before publishing news,” while referencing a fan's post about his supposed absence. The user later deleted the tweet following Iyer's comment.

Mumbai is scheduled to face Tripura on October 26 at the Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium in Agartala. Sources from the BCCI indicated that Iyer requires about a week to recover.

In the previous match against Maharashtra, Iyer showcased his skills with an impressive 142 runs off 190 balls, helping Mumbai secure a victory—a much-needed win after their initial loss to Baroda.

“I’m not concerned about outside opinions. I understand my body’s needs and will make decisions accordingly. I hope my team supports me,” Iyer stated after his stellar performance against Maharashtra.

Iyer recently faced setbacks, including being dropped from the Indian Test side during the series against England due to poor form. He also lost his central contract for opting out of a Ranji Trophy match, though it later emerged that he was dealing with an injury at the time.

As the season progresses, fans will be eager to see how Iyer navigates these challenges and supports his team.
