IPL 2025 Mega Auction Set for November 24-25 in Jeddah

IPL 2025 Mega Auction Set for November 24-25 in Jeddah

The IPL 2025 mega auction is scheduled to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, marking the second consecutive year the event will be held overseas after Dubai in 2024. This year's mega auction will coincide with the third and fourth days of the first Test match between India and Australia in Perth.

Unlike regular auctions, the mega auction occurs every three years and spans two days, drawing significant attention from cricket fans worldwide. With 1574 players registering for the auction – including 1165 Indian and 409 overseas players – teams will be vying to build their squads for the upcoming three-year cycle (2025-27).

The auction, to be held at the Abady Al Johar Arena (Benchmark Arena), will feature players from various countries such as Italy, Canada, Netherlands, Scotland, USA, and UAE, excluding Pakistan. Each of the ten IPL franchises can assemble a squad of up to 25 players, leaving 204 slots available post-retention.

Ahead of the auction, teams finalized their retained players from the 2024 squads by October 31, with 46 players retained across the franchises. Sunrisers Hyderabad's Heinrich Klaasen emerged as the highest-priced retention at INR 23 crore, followed by Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) and Nicholas Pooran (Lucknow Super Giants) jointly at INR 21 crore. Notably, Mumbai Indians retained all their key players, setting the stage for an exciting auction.
