WPL 2026 Mega Auction: Date, Venue, Retention Rules, and Purse Details Revealed

The WPL 2026 auction will be held in Delhi on November 27, and all franchises have been officially informed. After a short delay, the date for the Women’s Premier League auction has finally been confirmed. According to Sportstar, the auction will take place on November 27 at a hotel in Aerocity, near Delhi airport.

The WPL 2026 Auction will be a mega auction, meaning all teams will have to rebuild their squads from the start.

Each franchise can keep only up to five players from their current team. Out of these five:

  • A maximum of three can be Indian players.

  • At least two must be foreign players.

As per the rule, stated in the report, “If a franchise opts to retain five players, Rs 9.25 crore would be deducted from its purse, while for four, the deduction would be INR 8.75 crore; for three it would be INR 7.75 crore; four two INR 6 crore; and for one INR 3.5 crore.”

Also, all teams will have the option to use RTMs (Right to Match), which lets them keep some of their key players from the last season. However, it could be expensive, as each team still needs to buy around 10–11 more players.WPL 2026 player retention rules
