After a wait of 10 months, the third season of WPL 2025 (Women's Premier League) is returning with more excitement than ever. The world's biggest women's T20 league will be played in February-March and will entertain fans across India. In this article, we discuss the top 3 Indian pacers to watch out for in the upcoming WPL 2025 (Women’s Premier League.)

 

The third edition of the Women’s Premier League will start on February 14 with a match between defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Giants. The season will span over a month and will conclude with the final on March 15. Similar to the previous two seasons, this WPL 2025 season will also be played in a double round-robin format with two playoff matches, while there are changes in the venues this year compared to last year. This year’s matches will be held in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Vadodara, and Lucknow.

 

 Arundhati Reddy (Delhi Capitals)

Delhi Capitals’s Arundhati Roy is one of the Indian pacers who will be closely watched in the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL 2025). Arundhati who is well known for her swing and accurate yorkers, was recently dropped by Indian Team for the recent tours despite strong performances in domestic tournaments. Arundhati will try to perform well and get the selectors' interest back, and return to the Indian squad.

 

In the T20 World Cup 2024, Arundhati Reddy took seven wickets in the tournament, which was the highest from the Indian side. While in the recent Australia tour she performed well and delivered her best performance with 4/26. In the WPL 2024 season, Arundhati took 10 wickets at an economy rate of 7.61.

 

 Kashvee Gautam (Gujarat Giants)

 

Another Indian pacer who made to our list is Kashvee Gautam from Chandigarh. At the age of 20, has given significant performances in domestic cricket and has become popular among Indian women’s cricket fans. but due to a stress fracture just before the WPL 2024 season, she missed the last season of the Women's Premier League. However, she is all set to make a debut in the upcoming season opener between Royal changes Bengaluru and Gujarat giants.

Kashvee was the first Indian woman to take 10 wickets in an innings, achieving this feat in the Under-19 ODI Trophy. In the recent 2024-25 Senior Women’s One Day Trophy, she took 17 wickets and scored 158 runs, which impressed the Indian selectors and sparked discussions about her selection for upcoming tours. She was also awarded the Jagmohan Dalmia Trophy in the 2019-20 season, given to the best junior domestic cricketer of the year.

 

Akshita Maheshwari (Mumbai Indians)

Akshita Maheshwari, the 19-year-old right-arm medium pacer, is another emerging pacer who will be watched closely in the upcoming wpl season. Maheshwari, originally from Rajasthan, came to limelight after Mumbai Indians recruited her. 

 

In the recent 2024-25 Women’s U-23 One Day Trophy, she performed exceptionally well, taking 23 wickets in the season while also scoring two hat-tricks against Odisha and Mizoram. Akshita is well known for the Indian domestic circle for discipline and impressive line length.
