Women's T20 World Cup: Pakistan vs Australia - H2H, pitch report & where to watch

by mishaalmubarak

Pakistan women have been eliminated from the semi-final race after they lost three straight games. Australia, meanwhile, have had the opposite results. They have won all three of their fixtures so far and are very certain to be one of the two teams proceeding to the next stage.

Pakistan have had terrible batting collapses, which saw them lose the games they looked set to win. That was at its apex against Bangladesh in Southampton, when they could not chase even a 124-run target, despite reaching 49 in under eight overs. Pakistan lost seven of their batters for 35 runs, and threw the game and their survival away. It will only get tougher against Australia, but with nothing at stake, Pakistan could (and should) punch above their weight to get a win for their pride.

The task for Australia had been fairly easy. They managed one-sided wins over all three teams they played: South Africa, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands.

Head-to-head matches:

Pakistan have never defeated Australia in a WT20I game. Out of 16 games between the two sides, Australia won 14 games, while the other two ended without any result.

Pitch report:

This will be the last game of the competition in Leeds. Out of five WT20Is played at Headingley, four came during this World Cup. The venue has a decent batting surface, with teams easily hitting boundaries here more than at any other ground. The short boundaries at the ground will potentially make this a high-scoring affair.
