Torrent Group is set to buy a 67% stake in Gujarat Titans from CVC Capital Partners
The Gujarat Titans, an IPL team, is going to have a change in its ownership soon. According to reports from ESPNCricinfo, Torrent Group is on the verge of acquiring a 67% stake in the franchise from the current owners, CVC Capital Partners.
CVC Capital Partners to Sell Majority Share
CVC Capital Partners bought the Gujarat Titans in 2021, but now they've decided to sell most of their share in the team to the Torrent Group. The Gujarat Titans had an amazing start in the IPL, winning the championship in their first season in 2022. In 2023, they made it to the final once more but were defeated by Chennai Super Kings. In 2024, the team finished in sixth place on the points table.

The Gujarat Titans Under New Ownership
The Gujarat Titans had an amazing start in the IPL, winning the title in their first season in 2022. In 2023, they made it to the final once more but lost to Chennai Super Kings. This is a big moment for the Torrent Group, considering they tried and failed to repurchase the Ahmedabad and Lucknow franchises in the 2021 auction. They also attempted to buy a team in the Women’s Premier League in 2023 but were unsuccessful. The new owners of Gujarat Titans, Torrent Group, are expected to make Shubman Gill the captain for IPL 2025.
