Tamim and Shakib Likely to Join Champions Trophy 2025 Squad, Hints BCB President

The president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board(BCB) Faruque Ahmed said on Saturday that "Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal can be picked for the next Champions Trophy 2025". Before this, Gazi Ashraf Hossain, the chief selector for the BCB, wasn't sure if they could join the tournament. Also, Shakib had to receive permission to bowl in competitions because some people weren't sure if his bowling style was legitimate. And there were problems regarding his coming into the country because of a political conflict.
Tamim has been preparing carefully for the next BPL by practicing hard in the National Cricket League (NCL) T20 currently. It's been seven months since he played any international cricket but he still knocked out two half-centuries, showing he's essentially ready.
Faruque explained that the situation with Shakib is something different. He mentioned that Shakib wasn't ready mentally to play during the last West Indies tour. Now, it is up to Shakib to decide if he wants to play in the BPL or think about where he stands today. I don't know the latest regarding his situation, "He also said, a player who hasn't retired is definitely being considered to be picked for the Champions Trophy".
Faruque was discussing Tamim and said they do not really have a special rule for this situation. He said that if the selectors think a player who hasn't quit is still useful, they will talk with the player about it.Faruque said, "The decision regarding Shanto's captaincy will be made after December". He mentioned the board would look into whether Najmul Hossain shall remain as captain once his current time in charge concludes in December.
Before this, Najmul wasn't planning on holding onto the captain role after facing South Africa at home but decided against leaving the position following a discussion with Faruque. Faruque also explained, "Since we've just wrapped up a series and there aren't any tournaments until the Champions Trophy, we've got space to breathe. When the right time comes, we'll go over these topics".
