Sunil Joshi Returns to India A as Bowling Coach for Australia Series

Former India spinner and ex-selector Sunil Joshi has been appointed as the bowling coach of the India A team for the upcoming series against Australia A. The two teams will play two four-day matches later this month, followed by three one-day games.
India A Announces Coaching Line-Up for Australia A Series
Hrishikesh Kanitkar will continue as the head coach of India A, a role he has held for the past few years. The first four-day match begins on September 16, and the second will start on September 23.
Both games are set to be played at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. After that, the focus will shift to the limited-overs matches, scheduled for September 30, October 3, and October 5 in Kanpur. Apart from Joshi, the other new appointment in the India A set-up is that of current Mumbai assistant coach Atul Ranade, who has been named as India A's fielding coach for this tour. The head coach of the side will be former India allrounder Hrishikesh Kanitkar, a post he has regularly been on in the last few years.
"Joshi and Ranade have been appointed just for the Australia A series," a source told this paper.
Sunil Joshi’s Journey: From Karnataka Stalwart to India A Bowling Coach
Atul Ranade was fielding coach of Mumbai when they clinched the 2022-23 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The 54-year-old Joshi played 15 Tests and 69 ODIs for India between 1996 and 2002, picking up 110 wickets across both formats with his left-arm spin, besides scoring 936 runs.
He was one of Karnataka’s main players during the 1990s and 2000s, finishing his domestic career with 160 first-class games, 163 List A matches, and 15 T20s. Joshi later became a national selector from 2020 to early 2023.
At present, he works with Punjab Kings in the IPL as the assistant coach and spin bowling coach, under head coach Ricky Ponting. Earlier, he was head coach of Uttar Pradesh for a couple of seasons and has also served as the spin bowling consultant for the Bangladesh men’s national team.
