Shubman Gill Scores 7th ODI Century Against England, Becomes Fastest to 2,500 ODI Runs

The star Indian vice-captain Shubman Gill scored his seventh ODI century in the third match against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Gill opened the innings with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and reached his hundred in just 95 balls after England chose to bowl first.
Gill also became the fastest player to score 2,500 ODI runs in just 50 innings. He broke the record previously held by South Africa’s star Hashim Amla, who took 51 innings. During the same match, Gill crossed 5,000 international runs across formats in his 131st innings.
Gill had scored 87 and 60 in the first two matches of the series, which helped him climb to second place in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings, overtaking India captain Rohit Sharma. He also became just the seventh Indian to score fifty or more runs in all three innings of a three-match series.
