by Madhan Vennapusa

The Bengal cricket team announced its squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy on Saturday, December 14. The team will have experienced Indian pacers Mohammed Shami and Mukesh Kumar, who are expected to lead the bowling attack. Young Sudip Kumar Gharami will captain the side.

Shami, who is presently staying at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, has confirmed his availability for the Vijay Hazare one-day tournament. There was news that he might join Team India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and head to Australia. But there is no indication that Shami will join the Indian team anytime soon.

The Bengal cricket team, under the coaching of Laxmi Ratan Shukla, will begin its Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign against Delhi in Hyderabad on Saturday, December 21. The team will leave from Kolkata for Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Mohammed Shami, who has already represented Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this season, shall be key again. His inclusion plus Mukesh Kumar is only going to shore up Bengal bowling. Being a well-composed squad, Bengal intends to deliver as strong as might be possible against the tournament.
