Shadab, USA’s Andries Gous among United’s PSL 11 retentions
Having plenty of big names in the Platinum category, including Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Ali Agha, all-rounders Mohammad Nawaz and Imad Wasim, Naseem Shah, and Sahibzada Farhan, Islamabad United were spoilt for choice. However, they had to let go of those options as they retained Shadab Khan.
Shadab in Platinum, no Diamond retention
Shadab has played 94 PSL matches for Islamabad, the second-most by any player for a single franchise, closely behind Fakhar Zaman with 97 games. Unlike most other teams, United did not retain any player in the Diamond category, meaning they will look to fill that spot during the player auction on February 11.
Gous and Salman Irshad retained
In the Gold category, they picked pacer Salman Irshad, whom they bought from Zalmi last season, and released Azam Khan, Haider Ali, and Rumman Raees. Salman took nine wickets in five games for Islamabad in PSL X, the most among their pacers.
Islamabad’s final retention is USA wicketkeeper-batter Andries Gous, who joined the franchise last season and played only six games, scoring 142 runs at a strike rate of 144.
United, the PSL’s most successful franchise along with Lahore Qalandars, will complete their remaining squad in the player auction.
