Quetta sign replacement after Spencer Johnson withdraws from PSL

by mishaalmubarak

Quetta Gladiators have signed Alzarri Joseph in place of Australian pacer Spencer Johnson, who withdrew from the league. Spencer, who was signed ahead of the auction for PKR 56 million, was set to make his debut in the PSL with Quetta but informed the franchise of his unavailability due to personal reasons.

Has Joseph ever played in the PSL before?

Joseph was part of Peshawar Zalmi’s squad last season. He played eight games for the franchise and finished as their joint highest wicket-taker with a tally of 12 scalps.

Despite his decent returns last season, the West Indies pacer went unsold during the PSL auction, which he entered at a base price of PKR 42 million. Interestingly, during the auction, the Zalmi management hinted they had eyes on the West Indies pacer but were waiting for the fast bowler to recover from his injuries. However, Gladiators have now secured his services for the upcoming season.

Alzarri Joseph joins Rilee Rossouw, Brett Hampton, Sam Harper, Bevon Jacobs, Ben McDermott and Tom Curran as Quetta’s foreign picks. The franchise will begin its PSL journey on March 27, when they take on Karachi Kings at the Gadaffi Stadium, Lahore.
