PSL 11 retentions: Karachi keep Hasan Ali, Khushdil Shah for the upcoming season
Karachi Kings had shortlisted only Hasan Ali in the Platinum category, which made their retention decision for the PSL’s highest category relatively straightforward. Hasan grabbed 17 wickets for Karachi in the previous season, finishing as the tournament’s joint second-highest wicket-taker, along with their Diamond category pick, Abbas Afridi.
Abbas Afridi retained in Diamond
In the Diamond category, Kings had listed Abbas Afridi and Shan Masood, and chose to retain the former. Masood was dropped from the team last year after just three games following his below-par outings, making his retention unlikely ahead of Abbas.
The Gold category presented more of a challenge, with Karachi having a deep pool to choose from. Khushdil Shah, Aamir Jamal, Mohammad Irfan Khan, Mir Hamza, Zahid Mehmood, Omair Bin Yousuf, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Arafat Minhas were all listed, but only Khushdil Shah was retained.
Khushdil, Saad remain with Karachi
Khushdil was Karachi’s highest run-scorer among their local players, scoring 253 runs at a strike rate of 156. He also picked up seven wickets, though those were not as impactful as his contributions with the bat.
Kings’ final retention is Saad Baig from the Emerging category, as they opted not to retain any player in the Silver category. Saad has been part of the franchise since PSL 2024, playing seven matches across both seasons.
