The ICC Champions Trophy is going to kick off on 19 February 2025. All the nations have announced their squads for the ICC Champions Trophy except the host nation Pakistan. According to the ICC rules all the nations must finalize their squads by February 11.
Pakistan is the only team that hasn’t announced its squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The main reason for the delay in squad announcement is due to uncertainty around young left-handed batter Saim Ayub. During the recent Test series against South Africa Ayub was injured and he is currently getting treatment for his injury and recovering in London. Saim is expected to return to Pakistan in the first week of February.
The Pakistan management is waiting for Ayub's fitness if he regains full fitness from injury he will feature in the ICC Champions Trophy squad. If he doesn't recover in time the management will take the experienced batter, Shan Masood and the star batter Fakhar Zaman might also return to the squad for the Champions Trophy.
According to the reports the PCB will announce the squads for both the Tri-Nation ODI series and the Champions Trophy in the first three days of February. The Tri-Nation Series will start on February 8 between Pakistan, South Africa, and New Zealand. This series is important for the three teams to prepare for the Champions Trophy.
The squad will likely mixed with star-experienced players and young players such as Babar Azam, Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Aamir Jamal, and Abbas Afridi.
