MS Dhoni Absence Confirmed? MI vs CSK Clash in Doubt as Comeback Delayed
However, MS Dhoni’s comeback in the crucial clash is still uncertain. This is because of the calf injury he sustained last month that hasn’t healed completely yet. Dhoni is 44 years old now. He is yet to play in IPL 2026 even after coming to practice in full swing.
MS Dhoni Likely to Miss MI Clash, Return Still Uncertain
The lack of participation by Dhoni hurts CSK badly. The team is facing a tough time in the tournament, having won just 2 games out of 6 and is in need of his experience.
There have been reports that Dhoni will return to action in the next match against Gujarat Titans and not in this MI clash. However, he was spotted practicing in the nets. Although not 100 percent fit, he participated in his training sessions.

In Mumbai, Dhoni went through his batting practice, fielded, kept wickets, and also gave advice to young player Kartik Sharma. They don’t want to force Dhoni, and Dhoni himself too wants to come back when he is completely fit. According to Coach Eric Simons, the final call will be made by the medical panel.
There is always the rule of an Impact Player. However, Dhoni has never used it. Considering his age, getting back from injury becomes a tough task for Dhoni. Last year, he was a finishing batsman but faced very few deliveries. But even this job requires speed and aggression in batting. The fans would just have to wait for some more time to watch Dhoni on the field.
