Kapil Dev Asks Fans Not to Compare Cricketers from Different Generations
Bumrah has been impressing everyone with his amazing performances in matches all around the world with his cricketing skills. In the recent Test series in Australia, he performed very well by taking 64 wickets across 12 matches (23 innings), Bumrah also broke Kapil’s record of 51 wickets, setting a new record for the most wickets by an Indian in Australia. He did this with an amazing average of 17.15. Bumrah has registered his best match figures in Australia an impressive 9/86, including four five-wicket hauls.
Kapil Dev, who's a great all-rounder in cricket, thinks it doesn't make sense to compare players from different generations because the game and conditions have changed in today's cricket world.
Speaking to the media, Kapil said, "Please don’t compare me with Bumrah. You can’t compare one generation with another. Today’s players score 300 runs in a single day, which didn’t happen in our time. So, don’t compare."
Bumrah did great against Australia by taking 32 wickets in just nine innings. Bumrah also won the Player of the Series award, with an amazing average of 13.06. Bumrah has taken three five-wicket hauls in the five-match test series. By doing this, he broke Bishan Singh Bedi's old record from the 1977-78 series, where he took 31 wickets. Now Bumrah holds the record for the most wickets by an Indian in a series.
Kapil Dev said, "Please don't compare me with Jasprit Bumrah. You cannot compare one gen with another. The boys today score 300 runs in a single day, which wasn't the case in our time, so it's worthless comparing". pic.twitter.com/Ivmy7TttfK

Concerns About Bumrah's Fitness
Bumrah’s incredible series ended on a sad note when he got injured during the fifth Test in Sydney. He couldn’t bowl from Day 2 onwards, and his injury has raised doubts about his participation in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Because of this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told Bumrah to go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Sources have mentioned that Bumrah might get a spot in the preliminary Champions Trophy team. However, whether he gets to play will be based on his recovery progress at the NCA.
