Jasprit Bumrah Nominated for ICC Cricketer of the Year & Test Cricketer of the Year

On Monday, the ICC put Jasprit Bumrah's name down for the ICC Cricketer of the Year award. Bumrah's in the running with these mens Joe Root and Harry Brook from England, plus Travis Head from Australia. Bumrah has an opportunity not only for that but also for the 'Test Cricketer of the Year' award. For this one, he's competing against those same players, Joe Root and Harry Brook but then there's also Kamindu Mendis from Sri Lanka who is also there.

In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Bumrah took 15 wickets over eight games and secured two in the final game against South Africa. This was very big for India since they won every match. Not simply in T20s but in Test cricket this year as well, he's been doing amazing, taking 71 wickets in 13 matches.

The player might earn both awards, and cricket enthusiasts all over the world choose who wins by voting. You can choose the best cricket players on the ICC website till January 10.

Bumrah has been the top bowler in Test cricket in 2024, with 71 wickets at an average of 14.92 and a strike rate of 30.16 the best figures of any bowler. He also dominated the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, taking 30 wickets in just four Tests.

Bumrah bounced in Test cricket in 2023 after getting over a back injury, the ICC noted. He really shined in the T20 World Cup and his standout moments were in Perth, where his excellent performance led India to a victory by 295 runs.
