IPL 2026 Trading Update: No Traction on Washington Sundar and KL Rahul IPL Trades Despite Early Buzz

Two of the most notable IPL trade speculations Washington Sundar to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and KL Rahul to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are not going to happen. According to Cricbuzz, Sundar moving to Chennai has been fully ruled out, while Rahul's move to Kolkata feels unlikely, but not completely closed.
The Sundar to CSK rumor originated a few weeks ago on YouTube. It was not entirely inaccurate to start since CSK had shown some interest in bringing the Tamil Nadu all-rounder back home after R. Ashwin left. However, Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra said no. He told CSK very early that GT was not trading Sundar, whom they feel has a high value.
Gujarat Titans purchased Sundar for ₹3.2 crore in the last mega auction held in Jeddah. And while he only played six IPL games last season, his career has now soared considerably and he is now in regular contention for all formats for India. They have no plans for Sundar to leave.
The KL Rahul to KKR speculation is also, in truth, all speculation! The discussion comes from reports that Sanju Samson may be leaving the Rajasthan Royals (RR) to join the Delhi Capitals (DC) in a trade for KL Rahul. This is only a discussion by fan bases about picks for either team and KKR locking in with a Theo salary somewhere else There were some talks about Rahul and Samson in trades, but KKR will not trade Rinku Singh or Varun Chakaravarthy, making it harder to pull off a trade.

Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals are in opposing conditions. As some reports indicate, Samson is looking to move away from RR and try new options which puts RR in a difficult position. DC on the other hand are not in a hurry.
They will only be open to a trade if another elite player is offered in return. DC sources noted, "Why would we be giving away our star player?". Ultimately, the choice will not be up to the players. If Sundar, Rahul, or Samson move, it will be entirely dependent on the franchises' decision.
