Cameron Green and Steve Smith are two of the biggest names in the IPL 2026 mini-auction list. The auction will take place on December 16 in Abu Dhabi. Many well-known overseas players have also registered for the auction. These include Matthew Short, Josh Inglis, Jonny Bairstow, Jamie Smith, Rachin Ravindra, Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein, and Alzarri Joseph. There are 43 players in the Rs. 2 crore base price group, with big names like Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen-ul-Haq, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mustafizur Rahman, Gerald Coetzee, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Matheesha Pathirana, Maheesh Theekshana, and Wanindu Hasaranga. Josh Inglis might not play the full season because he will be getting married and could miss several matches.

Many well-known Indian players have signed up for the auction. The list includes Mayank Agarwal, KS Bharat, Rahul Chahar, Ravi Bishnoi, Akash Deep, Deepak Hooda, Venkatesh Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Mavi, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya, Kuldeep Sen, Prithvi Shaw, Rahul Tripathi, Sandeep Warrier, and Umesh Yadav.

Only two Indian players Ravi Bishnoi and Venkatesh Iyer have kept their base price at the highest bracket of Rs. 2 crore. From overseas names, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has kept his base price at Rs. 1 crore. The auction will also feature players from countries not often seen in the IPL, including Malaysia, with India-born Virandeep Singh also taking part.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, Glenn Maxwell has decided not to take part in the auction. He was bought by PBKS in last year’s mega auction but could not perform well. The Australian all-rounder scored only 48 runs and took 4 wickets in seven matches. He later left the tournament because of an injury.

Maxwell’s form in the IPL has dropped in the last two seasons, even though his teams made it to the play-offs. After the player retentions, the ten IPL teams have a total purse of ₹237.55 crore left for the auction. KKR have the biggest purse at ₹64.30 crore, followed by CSK with ₹43.40 crore. These remaining amounts will play an important role in how teams plan their bids in the auction.

A total of 77 squad spots are available across all teams, and 31 of them are for overseas players. All franchises will try to build a balanced team while keeping an eye on their budget and the top international players they want to sign. There will be tough competition for both local and overseas talents.

The large number of player registrations from different cricket-playing nations shows how popular the IPL has become around the world. Big names like Cameron Green and Steve Smith are expected to draw a lot of attention as teams plan how to use their money wisely to make their squads stronger.

This upcoming auction is an important moment in the IPL calendar. Teams will make key decisions that can shape their journey in the 2026 season. With many top international and domestic players in the list, the auction is expected to be very competitive.
