Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen sign Glenn Maxwell for PSL 11

Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen, have roped in Glenn Maxwell for the upcoming season. The Australian batter comes in as the franchise’s direct signing after the PSL auction, where they had already picked 15 players.

He will join his fellow Australian players, Marnus Labuschagne, who was directly signed ahead of the auction, and Riley Meredith, bought at the auction for PKR 42 million, in the team. All three will be part of a sizeable contingent of Australian players at the PSL this year.

Dwindling form

With Maxwell’s addition, Hyderabad have completed their 20-member squad, as permitted under the new rules. The batting all-rounder endured a dismal Big Bash League (BBL) season with the Melbourne Stars, averaging 15 while striking at 120. Much like the broader Australian side, he has also struggled for impact in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

However, his reputation in the T20 format remains significant. He carries a wealth of experience in playing for several franchise leagues, notably including IPL, MLC, Vitality Blast, and the Men’s Hundred. This will be his first appearance in the PSL.
