Gujarat Titans Beat Delhi Capitals by 1 Run in Last-Ball Thriller

Gujarat Titans won a thrilling match against Delhi Capitals by just 1 run, finishing the game on the very last ball. David Miller tried his best to help Delhi win and kept them in the game till the final over. But one small mistake or decision may have cost Delhi the match. With 2 required in 2 balls and Kuldeep Yadav at the other end, Miller decided not to take an easy single on offer and kept the strike with him. A slow bouncer from Prasidh Krishna beat Miller, then a brilliant underarm throw from the experienced Jos Buttler hit the stumps at the striker's end with Kuldeep not fast enough to dive and get home.
The Capitals won the toss and elected to bowl first. Three half centuries from the GT camp - skipper Shubman Gill (70 off 45), Washington Sundar (55 off 32) and Jos Buttler (52 off 27) helped the Titans register 210/4 on the board with Lungi Ngidi (1/24) bowling a tidy spell with 11 dots in his 4 overs. The hosts kick started the chase beautifully with openers Pathum Nissanka (41 off 24, 6 fours, 1 six) and KL Rahul adding 63 runs unscathed in the powerplay. The partnership was broken in the 9th over with Nissanka mishitting a Prasidh delivery to Rahul Tewatia with the team score 76.

Nitish Rana failed to impress at number 3 and the in-form impact sub Sameer Rizvi also departed for a golden duck as Rashid Khan with his experience sent both the batters back in successive deliveries. Rahul's strike rate kept going up and down but he finally found his groove getting to his 50 in 29 deliveries. David Miller injured his left hand while batting and had to retire hurt on 12. Rashid returned to dismiss Axar Patel for 2 and Tristan Stubbs was run out at the non-striker's end looking for a non-existing single.
Rahul amassed 92 off 52 balls smashing 11 fours and 4 sixes in his best knock of the season so far. Miller returned after Axar's dismissal and stayed at the crease till the end with Vipraj Nigam also hitting a couple of important boundaries to keep DC in the game. Miller's 20-ball unbeaten 41 comprised of 3 fours and as many sixes. With 13 needed off the final over, Miller only got strike on the 4th ball which he dispatched out of the park for a 106 metres biggie, farmed the strike on the penultimate delivery but failed to judge a slow bouncer on the final ball which cost DC the game.
Rashid's 3/17 were the best bowling figures across the two sides in the game. Prasidh was expensive in his 2/52 but held his nerve when it mattered the most. Mohammed Siraj also conceded 52 runs picking up a wicket, Kagiso Rabada finished wicketless with 0/32.
