BCCI to Announce India’s Women’s World Cup Squad: Tough Decisions for Neetu David Ahead of Big TournamentWith 9 wins from 11 matches in 2025, Indiа heads into the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 with momentum and high hopes. The BCCI will announce the 15-player squаd on August 19 with players like Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimаh Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh almost certain to be included. However, the rest of the squаd is still up for discussion. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team and selector Neetu David has some tough decisions to make as India looks to break their ICC tournament drought.

The Indian cricket board will soon announce the squad for the Women’s World Cup starting in September. Most of the team picks itself with India’s strong win over England boosting their selections. Hаrmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana will lead the bаtting, while Jemimаh Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma are sure to be included. Despite criticism of her strike rate, Harleen Deol is likely to keep her spot because of her recent good performances against the West Indies.

Renuka Singh’s Fitness: A Key Factor for India’s Bowling Choices

India’s bowling choices will depend on Renuka Singh’s fitness. When fit, Renuka is one of the best new-ball bowlers, but she hasn’t played since the WPL due to injury. She will have the ODIs against Australia and warm-up games to prove she’s ready. It’s unclear whether the BCCI will take a chance on her.

If Renuka isn’t selected, Arundhati Reddy could step in as the main pacer. Kranti Goud has already earned her spot with a 6-wicket haul in England. Amanjot Kaur is expected to be the third seam option makes it harder for Reddy to make the final squad.

Prаtika Rawal, just 24, has been a stаndout performer for India since her debut against the West Indies in December 2024. In 14 innings, she has scored 703 runs at an average of 54.07 with a top score of 154. She’s already the fifth-highest run-scorer in this period making her a key player for India’s future at the top of the order.

Harleen Deol’s Consistency Makes Her a Key Asset for India’s Future

Harleen Deol has been one of India’s most consistent batters. Since 2022, she has scored 804 runs from 26 innings, including a highest score of 115. She is the fourth-highest run-scorer in this period showing she can be a reliable option for the team.

Shafali Verma has had a tough time with her runs, averaging just 23 in 29 ODIs, which puts her behind other players. While she had a chance to impress during India A’s series against Australia, she only managed one 50 in three 50-over games. India could still consider her as a backup batter, but her position is complicated by Yastika Bhatia also covers the spot and is a backup for Richa Ghosh.
