BCCI Announces India’s Afghanistan Series After T20 World Cup 2026; Rohit and Kohli to Return
After the T20 World Cup 2026, cricket is not going to come to an end for India. First, IPL 2026 will continue to play until the end of May. After that, India will play a home series against Afghanistan, starting from June 6. The series has been confirmed by the BCCI.
Afghanistan, under Rashid Khan Captaincy, will play one Test and three ODI matches in India. The Test match will be played in New Chandigarh, specifically in the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh PCA Stadium in Mullanpur. This will be the first Test match to be held in that stadium.

The ODI matches will be start from June 14, 17, and 20. The venues are Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Chennai. This series is crucial as India is gearing up for the ODI World Cup 2027. Rohit Sharma and Kohli will play in the ODI series. They play ODI matches only. They will play in IPL 2026 as well. So, they will be ready for the ODI World Cup 2027 as well. India and Afghanistan have played one Test match before. The match was held in 2018 in Bengaluru. India won the match by a huge margin. So, after the World Cup and IPL, fans will once again see India playing at home.
