Sri Lanka Clinches ODI Series Against West Indies with Dominant Performance

Sri Lanka secured a decisive series victory over the West Indies, winning the rain-affected second ODI by five wickets in Pallekele. The hosts' bowlers were in exceptional form, with Wanindu Hasaranga leading the charge, claiming 4 wickets for just 40 runs. Maheesh Theekshana and Asitha Fernando also made significant contributions, taking 3 for 25 and 3 for 35, respectively, to bowl out the West Indies for 189 runs in a match curtailed to 44 overs per side.

After a shaky start, the West Indies found themselves in dire straits at 58 for 8. However, a remarkable 119-run partnership between Sherfane Rutherford and Gudakesh Motie salvaged the innings and provided a fighting total. The West Indies had opted to bat first after a rain delay, but their top order faltered against Sri Lanka's disciplined bowling attack. Alick Athanaze fell early to Theekshana, while Fernando quickly dismissed Brandon King and Shai Hope in consecutive overs. Theekshana added another wicket to his tally, leaving the visitors struggling at 31 for 4.

Hasaranga's sharp performance continued as he bowled Roston Chase with a well-disguised googly and later took out Romario Shepherd, tightening Sri Lanka's grip on the match. In response, Sri Lanka's captain Charith Asalanka anchored the chase with a crucial half-century, guiding his team to victory with 5.4 overs to spare. With this win, Sri Lanka has demonstrated their all-round capabilities, earning a well-deserved
