Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Return to Mumbai as India Implements New Training Mandate Ahead of Final Test

India faced a significant setback as New Zealand secured a 113-run victory in the second Test in Pune, marking the end of India's 12-year unbeaten streak at home. This defeat followed New Zealand's 8-wicket win in the first Test, their first victory in India in 36 years.

In light of these results, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have traveled to Mumbai to spend time with their families. The remaining players and coaching staff will depart together ahead of the final Test, scheduled for November 1 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Before this crucial match, players have been granted a two-day break to recharge.

However, the team management has established compulsory training sessions on October 30 and 31, with no option for players to skip these practices. This decision comes after India's disappointing performance, which has led to stricter rules to ensure the team is best prepared.

Although senior players and fast bowlers were previously permitted to miss nets following back-to-back matches, this privilege has been revoked. With India’s impressive record of 18 consecutive Test series wins at home now ended, the stakes are high as they aim for qualification in the World Test Championship final.

Post-series, India will shift their focus towards the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, marking a crucial period for the team.
