Fans Protest Water Shortage During IND vs NZ Test in Pune
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), recognized as the wealthiest cricket board globally, continues to face criticism for inadequate fan facilities at international matches. Despite the responsibility of state bodies to manage events, the BCCI must ensure that essential arrangements are in place.
In the wake of severe backlash during the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur, where fans encountered poor stand conditions and equipment issues, the BCCI's oversight appears to be lacking. Now, at the ongoing second Test between India and New Zealand in Pune, fans have taken to the streets to protest the alarming shortage of drinking water amid the sweltering heat.
RevSportz reporter Subhayan Chakraborty shared a video capturing the protest, showing long lines of frustrated fans chanting slogans demanding water from the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA): "MCA hume paani do, MCA hay hay."
In response to the mounting pressure, local authorities acted swiftly, distributing water bottles to the parched crowd. However, the situation remains chaotic, with many fans struggling to receive adequate hydration.
On the field, New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat first, with the team positioned at 115/2 during the early stages of their innings.
