Cricket Australia Reappoints Andrew McDonald as Men's Head Coach Until 2027
Cricket Australia announced on Wednesday that Andrew McDonald's tenure as head coach of the men's team has been extended until the conclusion of the 2027 season. This extension allows him to lead the team in their title defense at the 2027 One-Day World Cup in South Africa. McDonald took over following Justin Langer's departure in early 2022 and has since achieved significant milestones, including winning the World Test Championship, the 50-over World Cup, and retaining the Ashes in England.
This new term will also encompass 13 months of Test cricket, featuring challenging series against India and England, along with the historic 150th anniversary Test at the MCG.
Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley praised McDonald, stating, "He has demonstrated exceptional capabilities as a head coach, achieving outstanding results while fostering a strong coaching team and a productive environment." McDonald expressed gratitude for the support from his team, emphasizing the professionalism and commitment of his coaching staff in driving the team's success.
