"India's Spin Legacy at Risk: MSK Prasad Warns of Declining Quality"

Former Indian chief selector MSK Prasad has voiced concerns over India's diminishing reputation as a spin-friendly nation. Despite having renowned spinners like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, Prasad believes that the country is moving away from its traditional strengths in spin bowling.

He emphasized that the notion of mastering spin-friendly conditions is outdated. "All countries tailor pitches to suit their bowlers. Australia offers bounce and pace, New Zealand favors swing, and England has a similar approach," he stated.

Prasad lamented that Indian batsmen no longer excel against spin as they once did. "The days when our players would spend hours at the crease to score big are gone. We no longer play spin well," he asserted.

He also pointed out that Jadeja and Ashwin may be the last of India's top-quality spinners. "Selectors are now inclined towards mystery bowlers or those with multiple variations, leading to a decline in the quality of spin bowling," he added.

Prasad noted a shift in the mindset of domestic spinners, who prioritize economy over flight, impacting their effectiveness against batters.
