Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody has advised Punjab Kings to forgo retaining any capped players ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. Despite reports suggesting they might retain Arshdeep Singh, Moody believes the franchise should utilize the right-to-match (RTM) option for players like Arshdeep, Sam Curran, and Kagiso Rabada. He also highlighted young wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma as a strong candidate for the RTM card. Moody noted that uncapped players such as all-rounder Harpreet Brar and explosive batsman Shashank Singh should be prioritized, although Shashank may consider entering the auction to secure a better deal. "For Punjab Kings, I wouldn't retain any capped players but would use the RTM for Arshdeep, Curran, and Rabada. Jitesh is another I'd consider. For uncapped players, I’d focus on securing Shashank, a powerful middle-order hitter, and Harpreet, the left-arm spinner," Moody shared with Star Sports.
