Yuvraj Singh Disappointed as Sunrisers Hyderabad Ignore Abhishek Sharma for Captaincy in IPL 2026
The Sunrisers Hyderabad appointed Ishan Kishan as a captain instead of Abhishek Sharma, which has upset Yuvraj Singh. According to Yuvraj, he felt disappointed by this decision. Furthermore, he expressed that he knows Ishan Kishan and appreciates his improvement in the game.

The reason behind SRH appointing Kishan was due to the injury of the regular captain, Pat Cummins. Therefore, Kishan was appointed as an interim captain for the initial matches.
Ishan was given this opportunity due to his good performance in domestic cricket. As an opening captain of the Jharkhand team, he won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with them. Also, he played well for the Indian team in T20 matches.

However, according to Yuvraj Singh, this is quite unfair with Abhishek Sharma since he is a long-term player who has struggled a lot with the team. In addition, he also highlighted that no matter what the case is, anyone feels demotivated by such decisions when he has worked a lot for the team.
He further stated that he had talked to Abhishek as well. He asked him to remain calm, forget about the disappointment, back his captain, and take this opportunity to play well.
Yuvraj further narrated his experience. He said that even when MS Dhoni was made the captain, there were many senior players in the squad, yet everything went well. For the meantime, Abhishek Sharma will serve as the vice-captain under Ishan Kishan till Pat Cummins returns. SRH aims to lift their first IPL trophy since 2016.
