WTC Points Table 2025–27 Updated After Australia Beat England in 3rd Ashes Test

Australia won an exciting 3rd Test in Adelaide and kept the Ashes. They have now beaten England 3–0 in the first three home Tests and head into Christmas on a high. England's dismal record in the third Test of an Ashes series in Australia continues with their last win in a third Ashes Test away from home coming in the 1965/66 series. Plenty of heroes for Australia.
Mitchell Starc with the ball, Usman Khawaja, Alex Carey and Travis Head with the bat with plenty of important individual performances as well coming together to bring the urn home.
Australia lost Steve Smith to illness at the start of this Test. Brought in Usman Khawaja who batted out of position at number 4 and revived his career at the age of 39 with a brisk 82 in the first innings, Carey scored 106 to register 371 in the first innings, Jofra Archer picked up 5/53.
In response, the Australian attack put together a combined effort. Pat Cummins picked up 3/69 at the middle, Scott Boland ran through the tail with 3/45 and Nathan Lyon picked up 2/70 to skittle England for 286 and get a 85-run first innings lead. England skipper Ben Stokes hit 83 with the bat. Australia's response was led by a mammoth innings from Travis Head who smashed 170 in 219 deliveries adding 162 runs for the 5th wicket with Alex Carey who scored 72 in 128 deliveries. 4 wickets from Josh Tongue and 3 from Brydon Carse set England a world record run chase of 435.
Australia Seal the Ashes with Dominant Adelaide Test Win
England displayed their best batting performance this series in the 4th innings. Zak Crawley scored 85, but it was Cummins who picked up 3/48 at the top of the order. Few good knocks from Joe Root (39) and Harry Brook (30) but their starts weren't converted into big scores. Jamie Smith displayed his class and caliber with 60 in 83 deliveries. He hit 4 consecutive boundaries, two each against Cummins and Starc but heaved a leg side shot to be the first batter to depart on day 5.
Will Jacks scored 47 adding 52 runs for the 7th wicket with Smith in a partnership that nearly batted for 15 overs. Half centurion in the first innings Jofra Archer failed to score big in the 2nd innings with Starc claiming 3/62 and Scott Boland picking up the final wicket in the afternoon session.
Nathan Lyon played his part with 3/77 in 25 tireless 4th innings overs but was injured on the final morning while fielding in the deep and rushed off the field. Marnus Labuschagne gets special mention for the wonderful fielding effort and the 5 brilliant catches he snatched in the entire Test.
A complete team effort throughout the three Tests and Australia prove their dominance in the format and over England. A complete professional display in the first two games without their regular skipper and now in the 3rd game without their best batter and one of the triumvirate of fast bowling still missing.
This was Australia's sixth straight victory in the 2025-27 World Test Championship, having also won 3-0 against the West Indies. They have consolidated their position at the top of the table with a PCT of 100. England's PCT, meanwhile, has slipped from 30.95 to 27.08 following the defeat, their fifth in eight matches in the campaign. They remain seventh on the points table, sandwiched between sixth-placed India and eighth-placed Bangladesh.
