by K D Mishra

India’s cricket team star pacer Jasprit Bumrah won’t be participating in the Vijay Hazare Trophy season of 2025/26, which kicks off from December 24. Although other players of the nation’s cricket team, such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and many more star players, would go on to feature in at least a couple of matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy event, it won’t be the same for the ace speed bowler. Bumrah was recently seen in action in the India vs South Africa T20 series.

Jasprit Bumrah to Miss Gujarat’s Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025/26

“As reported by The Times of India, the Gujarat Cricket Association secretary has confirmed that Bumrah won’t be participating in the Vijay Hazare Trophy since he will be taking a rest. He is an important player for India during the T20 World Cup of 2026, and therefore, the player won’t risk getting injured during the domestic tournament. Gujarat is set to begin its VHT 2025/26 process when locking horns with Services at the KSCA Cricket Ground 2 of Alur on Wednesday,” according to Reports.

“Bumrah won’t be playing for VHT as he is on a rest period,” said Anil Patel, secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association. After missing a couple of tests in England, Bumrah has been quite active in the last few months. He represented India in their test series against the West Indies. Later on, he played against South Africa in both test and T20 series.

This pacer had injured his back during the Border-Gavaskar series earlier this year. After that injury, it took him a couple of months to return to the field. He made a comeback through IPL 2026. Since then, his team has taken utmost care of him. On the other side, a return is expected for Axar Patel in the VHT, as he hasn’t played the last 2 T20s against SA because of illness.
