Who Will Be the Next Sponsor of Team India? Latest Updates & Possible Brand Partners

[ Poll: QLjQbdyR ]

Just a few weeks before the Asia Cup 2025, Team India is left without a main sponsor. Fantasy sports company Dream11 has decided to stop being the team’s main sponsor.

According to NDTV, this means the Indian cricket team might have to play the upcoming tournament, starting September 9, without a shirt sponsor.

The new "Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025" has made it illegal for real-money gaming platforms to operate in India. Since Dream11 is affected by this ban, the company does not want to continue sponsoring the Indian cricket team. Neither Dream11 nor the BCCI has made an official statement yet, leaving the team’s jersey sponsorship uncertain just before the Asia Cup, which starts on September 9.

Dream11 Exit: What Happened and Why

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia clarified on Friday that the board has no intention of challenging the new rules. "If it's not permissible, we'll not do anything. The BCCI will follow every policy of the country that is framed by the central government," Saikia stated.

Reports say that the Indian team’s Asia Cup jerseys with the Dream11 logo have already been made, but they won’t be worn during the tournament. If a new sponsor isn’t found before the competition begins, Team India may have to play without any main sponsor on their shirts.

Dream11 had first signed with the BCCI in 2023 in a ₹358-crore agreement, which included ₹3 crore per home match and ₹1 crore per away fixture. But this partnership appears to have come to an abrupt halt due to the government's Online Gaming Bill, which has now become a law.

Who Could Be the Next Major Sponsor for Team India?

Big companies like the Tata Group, Reliance, and Adani Group are strong candidates. Tata is already well-known in cricket as the official sponsor of the IPL, Reliance Jio is active in sports sponsorship and broadcasting, and the Adani Group has invested heavily in sports projects.

The rapidly growing fintech and investment platforms might also seek a partnership with the BCCI. Firms such as Zerodha, Angel One, and Groww have built extensive customer bases and possess significant digital presence. Some insurance companies, which already advertise a lot in sports, might also want to sponsor to get their name known more.
