Who Is The Highest Indian Scorer In 2024? Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma and….

by kyle

SA vs Ind, 1st T20I - Sanju Samson of 2024 meets Rohit Sharma of 2013 | ESPNcricinfo

If you were to ask which Indian Cricketers impressed you this year, two players who stand out are Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jasprit Bumrah. However, this article will focus on batters and discuss who scored the most runs for India in Test, ODI, and T20 cricket this year.

Test: Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal: Cricketer with multiple records and net worth

Jaiswal has been the standout performer this year. He dominated the test matches and was India's highest run scorer. He scored 1478 runs in 29 innings, scoring 3 centuries, including two double hundreds and nine half-centuries with an average of 54.74. His highest score was against England, where he scored an unbeaten 214. His most recent performance comes from the Border Gavaskar series, where he scored two fifties in both innings of the Boxing Day Test match at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Some of his best performances:

  • 214* against England in Rajkot
  • 209 against England in Visakhapatnam
  • 161 against Australia in Perth.

After Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubham Gill is the second-highest scorer with 866 runs in 12 innings, and Rohit Sharma is the third-highest scorer with 619 runs in the 26 innings.

This year, India's test record was full of ups and downs. The team played 14 test matches in which the results of the first 7 test matches and the last seven tests were exactly opposite: India 6 out of the first seven matches while losing 5 out of the last 7 seven test matches.

ODI: Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma: Director's Cut | Cricbuzz.com

Rohit Sharma was the highest scorer in the ODI. One surprising fact is that India only played three ODI matches the whole year; in those matches, Rohit Sharma scored 157 runs with two 50s and a strike rate of 141. While next to him, Axar Patel took the second spot with 79 runs, while Virat Kohli was in third position with 58 runs.

On the other hand, Rohit's poor form continues. The batter has not scored a half-century in the last 15 test innings. In addition, India lost five out of eight test matches in the second half under his captaincy.
It is concerning that India played only three matches last year, and this lack of experience could cost them the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
