Who is Mohammad Faiq, Islamabad United’s newest signing for PSL 11?

by mishaalmubarak

Islamabad United have added another player to their Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 squad less than three weeks out from the competition.

The franchise announced the signing of top-order batter Mohammad Faiq. While the 28-year-old had previously been part of Islamabad as well, he was not retained for this season and also went unsold during the auction, where he had registered with a base price of PKR 6 million.

Faiq’s incredible numbers

Faiq has only played 12 T20 games so far, but his numbers in those games are phenomenal for someone with so little experience. During last year’s National T20 Cup, he was the tournament’s fifth-highest run-scorer, with a strike rate of 205, which was better than any other player in the top 10.

His time with Pakistan Shaheens during the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup was somewhat lean, as he only scored 42 runs in four games, which included a nought in the final.

Overall, he has a batting average of 63.28 while striking at a rate of 189 in these 12 games.

With Faiq’s addition, Islamabad have completed their allotted quota of 20 players for the season.

Islamabad United Squad for PSL 11:

Shadab Khan, Salman Irshad, Andries Gous, Devon Conway, Faheem Ashraf, Mehran Mumtaz, Max Bryant, Khurram Shahzad, Mark Chapman, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Mir Hamza Sajjad, Sameer Minhas, Sameen Gul, Shamar Joseph, Imad Wasim, Richard Gleeson, Haider Ali, Mohammad Hasnain, Dipendra Singh Airee and Mohammad Faiq.
